Since @america’s opening in December, Thousand of university students and high
school have been visited @america. Students usually come to see and learn about
the culture of America with A high-tech guided, with 60 Apple iPads, a giant
super display of Google Earth called Liquid Galaxy, interactive monitors
explaining are available to try and test.
We could leisurely visit in the green long area, enjoy browsing and find
out any informations trough the iPad, learn about American campus life or meet
a visiting member of congress and even the Holywood Celebrity.
@america is the new concept of cultural center, because ussually cultural
center taken place in campus or beside the embassy like Erasmus Huis, so the
@america having for new idea ro set of a high-tech cultural center in shopping
center. Now shopping center in Jakarta transform from enjoy shopping to learn
while shopping.
I quite often to go to Pacific Place, chill out with my Chinesse and
Australian friend at Starbucks. When I knew there is new cultural center I was
very much impressed. And that has been a long time visit after @america’s
opening in December. I had picked up so much of American history during my
visit. I knew why Jazz is part of American culture and it related with black
american people.
Surprisingly, Monique Coleman an American actress, entrepreneur and dancer
and phillanthropist best known for starring in Disney’s High School Musical movies
visited @america 2011 in February 2012with her world tour to discussing issues
concerning Indonesian youth. This event called “An Evening with Monique
Coleman”
For had many experiences visit cultural center in Jakarta, I’m really sure
@america is the best center culural in Indonesia. Even it is too soon say
@america will change Indonesian’s perceptions of the United States I still
hopimg that with this soft diplomacy the skeptical of the United States will
steady chip away.
